As for Ethan... I called this morning to see how he was doing and they said he was doing good. They decided to change his feedings to 2 hours and 15 minutes now. They also decided to keep him at 2 liters on his oxygen. They decided to keep him at 3 for the last 2 days. Why I am not sure. He has these little episodes and he will do them weather he is at 2, 3, or 4 liters. It is not respiratory related... supposedly it is related to his acid reflux. Then they told me they wanted me to try breastfeeding him today! Woo hoo! So we tried this at the 4:00 cares but he was zonked out and there was no waking him up. So we tried again at 7:00 and he did ok. He latched on a couple of times then would look around then do it again. It's a step forward though and we will take it.
I have gotten a little frustrated these last few days. Sometimes I just wonder if they know what is going on with him or if they are still trying to figure it out. I have asked if what I eat could be affecting these issues... they say no. I have asked if it could be something else. They say most likely not. All the signs go towards reflux. They have him on the acid reflux meds which Seattle took him off of because they don't believe they work. 2 of the 4 docs here don't think they work. They put him on this wedge to sleep on... I haven't noticed a difference other than it's a pain in the butt to put him in it and take him out of it and all of his fluid is going to his legs so they are puffy. I just pray that it can get figured out so we can get over this hump and keep moving towards going home!
Ahhh, pulling weeds do you picture heads of medical people, tubes, meds, etc. as you pull them out of the ground? By all means feel free to take on my garden I am sure it needs the therapy too. Latchin' on- what a big boy!! Keep it up team E!
ReplyDeletePoor little man! I hope the Acid Reflux things gets figured out as well... and soon.
ReplyDeleteI like your method of therapy. Mine isn't pulling weeds but it's similar, with being outside and doing something that just feels natural. Some how it really clears your mind. Take some time for yourself, it's good for you, good for Mark and good for Ethan.
Wow Breastfeeding! That is a HUGE STEP! That is just awesome, and I bet it was awesome for you too. The fact that he latched on his first time, is really good. It may take him a bit to really go at it, but he'll learn.
