Sunday... 1st mothers day

Ahhh Mother's Day. Yeah I didn't think I would have my first one until 2011 but hey I got to hold my baby so I was happy! Mark had to work today but he will be down here tomorrow. He was at a friends house last night and they have a daughter that is about 8 years old. Mark asked her what he should get me and what to write in the card. This is what she came up with:

To: Leah From: Mark
Oh dear Leah you're my loving girl you take pictures and they are so beautiful. You gave birth to a wonderful son and you named him Ethan. Oh you're such a beautiful wife. I love you Mark

Then she told him that he should make me m&m pie and wrote down the recipe as follows:
Things needed: m&m's, butter, p. butter, pie crust.
How to make: put down pie crust, melt peanut butter & butter for 6 min sprinkle the m&m's on the top and put it in the pie crust.

It was so cute! I can't wait til I get those letters from Ethan!
I got a lot of text messages and calls to say happy mothers day and I didn't respond yet. Not because I don't appreciate it because I do! I woke up not feeling the best. I just felt weak and wanted to save my energy for Ethan. I hope you all understand and Happy Mothers Day to all you other mothers out there!

When I got to the hospital in the morning there was a gift from Ethan. It was a photo album full of pictures that the nurses have taken at the hospital. Then there was a little box. What was in that little box brought tears to my eyes! It was a little plaque that had Ethan's foot prints molded into it! I have only gotten foot prints of one of his feet because he has had an iv in the other one ever since he was born. Now to get his tiny feet molded was absolutely precious. It took the nurses a little bit of effort to do it and I appreciate every bit of it! Thanks girls!

Ethan has been having what we call episodes or a&b's which stands for apnea and bradycardia. It's basically where he gets into a deep sleep and stops breathing. So this is where we have to jump in his bed and shake him a little bit to get him to wake up and breath. I guess he had one at 2am, 9am, and 4:30. The Dr's expect this to happen when he comes off the ventilator but if he starts to have a lot more he may have to go back on the ventilator which we are all hoping he won't have to. I did get to hold him for over an hour and it was of course awesome. He didn't have any issues when I was holding... maybe because I kept touching him so he couldn't get into a deep sleep ;) You know moms... can't keep their hands off!

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
