So I spent all day Friday worrying about Ethan and if he was going to be ok to fly back to MT. Last time we did this flight he was doing awesome in Seattle and then took a few steps backwards when we got to MT. I didn't want this to happen. Mark and I even asked what our options were such as staying in Seattle. Of course we really didn't want to do that but we needed to know what our options were. If we wanted to stay in Seattle we would have to be transferred to another hospital as Ethan wasn't considered sick enough for the Children's hospital. I even worried if I did the right thing by jumping in and calling Great Falls to cancel the flight. Really though, if we would have flown on Friday morning like planned he would have went backwards (as he did in Seattle) only I would have thought it was due to the transport which would have caused me to think "ugh we should have stayed at another hospital in Seattle until he is ready to come home." Now we know that flying back was an ok decision. Great Falls came to pick us up on Saturday morning. Ethan flew back on the cpap and since we are at a greater elevation than Seattle we were expecting him to need more oxygen than he did when we left Seattle but he didn't! Yeah! They upped his oxygen in Seattle on Friday because he needed it all of a sudden which they think is because his steroids had wore off.
So Saturday I stayed at the hospital to make sure Ethan got all settled in and that all the information was transferred correctly. I also had to wait for Mark. He left a truck at the hospital for me but forgot to leave the keys! The Gift of Life housing is full now too so for now we don't have an apartment in Great Falls. I am hoping that something comes open again soon which I am sure it will. So Mark didn't get to the hospital until 1:30am (Sunday) since he had to work. Once he got there he was a little shocked. Ethan was in a crib! No incubator (or isolette) a real big boy crib! He was put in a crib on Friday in Seattle so they put him in a crib in G.F. It is so nice. It's just such a nice change. Mark got to hold Ethan for an hour and a half and he did really well the whole time. We left the hospital at 3am and didn't go to bed until 5am since its an hour and a half drive. Yeah, the sun was coming up as we were getting home! But it was so worth it... seeing Mark again and Mark being able to hold Ethan. It's definitely nice to be back!
Wow a big boy crib! A great flight, doing great, and getting held by daddy.... Ethan is getting spoiled! Jk! I am sooo sooo happy he is doing SO great!
