One year ago...

One year ago today we finally got to bring our little baby home with us! It was so exciting yet so nerve wrecking. He was born at 2 lbs. 9 oz but when we took him home he was a little over 7lbs. We had to have him hooked up to an apnea monitor to make sure that he continued to breath. We had all sorts of medicines to give him and certain formula to give him with a certain nipple. It was a little overwhelming at first that is for sure. It was so fun to have him home with us. But I will never forget that first night at home. Mark had taken Ethan in the back room to change his diaper and we were going to watch a movie. Only Mark had asked me to come look at Ethan. He had an umbilical hernia that we were told to "watch." Well all of a sudden it looked much much bigger. So we ended up in the emergency room in town with a bad experience. Good thing was we didn't get med flighted some where (which is honestly what we thought was going to happen!)

Here are some pictures from that glorious day!

He really didn't like the car seat at first....
It wasn't long after we got in the car before he was fast asleep....
One year later he is not on any machines and no medications! The saying "they grow up fast" is sure true! We are so thankful for this little boy in our lives!

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
