A change of scenery!

Yeah! So Ethan is still off oxygen. He tried breast feeding yesterday and did really good. So we thought we would try it twice today. He did really good at 11:00 and then we fed him through his tube for his 2:00 cares but his 5:00 we thought we try the breast again. Yeah, he really wasn't into it. He just sat there and smiled at me! Seriously, I would tease his lip and then he would smile and I think he was fake sleeping! So after 30 minutes of trying I decided we better hook up his food through his tube so he didn't miss his feeding completely. It's ok though. He did awesome one time so we will try some more tomorrow.

We had yet another change today. Only a change in scenery this time and we didn't have to fly any where to get it! Since we got back from our Billings trip we were in a room without a window. I was kind of going insane. Mark told me that he agreed that it would be nice to have a room with a window again but thought it would be ridiculous if I asked. So I asked a nurse what she would think if I did ask. She said she wouldn't blame me. So a few other nurses thought the same thing so the request was put in. The rooms were full for a while but today there was a room open so they moved us! Yeah! I am loving the sunlight! I think Ethan is liking it too ;)

It is Mark's day off today so he got to see Ethan for the first time with no oxygen. Of course he loved seeing him do so well and less to worry about when you take him out to hold him. It's funny because Mark isn't used to being able to hold him whenever he wants to know. Usually we would have to wait until care times to do so. It's like Ethan reached his due date and said OK I want to be a normal boy! We are loving it!

We also found out tonight that our NICU friends that have been stuck in Seattle for the last 2 months are headed back to GF tomorrow! Yeah! That means Eli is doing better and they get to finally be home... well as home as home can get since Eli will still be in the NICU but might be Ethan's neighbor ;)

  2. Wow a Window! It's amazing how big of a deal the little things in life can be! I am glad that Ethan gets to see some sunlight now.
I didn't realize that you and Mark can hold Ethan whenever you want now?!?!?! That is exciting! And He smiles?!?! Can't wait to see a pic of that!
Hang in there Sloan family, going home day is almost here!

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
