The bottle again...

So yesterday Ethan breast fed at 11am, 2pm, 5pm and 8pm! He did great at the first 3. At 8pm he took about half of what he should (which is now at 50ml's) so I just had the nurse put the rest in his feeding tube. Today the Dr. thought we should start bottle feeding him once per day. So I breast fed him at 8am and 2pm and then we gave him the bottle at 8pm. He did really really well with the bottle. Well up until he spit all over me! Good thing I was wearing one of the gowns from the hospital! The nurse thinks it was about 5ml's but it seemed like 5 ounces to me! Well then we looked at his face after cleaning up all the spit and saw his feeding tube coming out of his mouth... well the other end is going in his nose... yeah I turned my head for this one! She just pulled it right on out. He has had a few nights now that he has went tube-less because of him pulling it or spitting it out I guess. When he gets his food in his tube it is only over 45 minutes now! He has been liking his swing. He gets fussy once and a while so we have put him in his swing and it is awesome. So excited too because some great friends had the same swing sent to our house... I have a feeling it might be a god sent when we get home!

This morning they did some blood work so I asked them again to do a blood gas since he didn't do so well last night after breast feeding. Sure the dr. thought I was crazy but he completely understands. His daughter had twins in a NICU for 9 &11 weeks. And what did they find... everything is great! He said it was unnecessary blood work and that they are going to start billing me separate for the extra blood work so that we have to pay it out of pocket... he was just joking. He said that if it makes the parents happy and doesn't hurt the baby he says why not. Good thing too because it just eased my mind that he isn't going back on the ventilator one of these days!

Mark's sister Lori is getting married tomorrow in Wisconsin. We are both really bummed that we wont be there. I am sure it will be a beautiful wedding with some great times to be had! I am certain that they both understand why we are not there but we will be thinking of them and hope them a beautiful marriage. I can't wait to hear where they are going for a honeymoon (since it is a surprise to her and he hasn't told anyone) and I can't wait to see puppy pictures because I hear they are getting one once they get to WA... I love puppies... (NO, Mark we are not getting any more!)

I have pics to post but it is getting late and I need some sleep so that is the goal for tomorrow ;)

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
