We also found out that Billings was giving Ethan 3 times the amount of iron that G.F. was giving him! Too much iron can upset his stomach... might have been part of the problem today. I also realized I should clarify what bagging him means. It means that he needs a stronger source of oxygen and it is their step before putting him back on the ventilator. It's a sign that he was not doing good at all. Which brings me to another point. Once I got back from Seattle (this last time for the incarcerated hernia) Mark asked me what the Dr. told me about it. He said that I seemed really calm. Well they told Mark that if we didn't get to Seattle quick enough that we could have lost him because it was affecting his blood supply! Oh yeah, nice, good thing I didn't know that because I am pretty sure I wouldn't have been as calm! Good thing we got there quickly and no surgery was needed ;)

A tough day for all 3 of us!
So this morning I got up and headed to the hospital. Ethan was a little cranky but he got really cranky as the day went on. They said that he was refluxing really bad and that is why he was crying so much. When he refluxes it burns inside him so he arches his back and cries. They cranked the crib at even more of an angle to help with the reflux ( so gravity helps his food stay down.) It got a little rough on me because he kept crying and I just felt so bad for him. He was in pain and there wasn't anything I could do. Of course I tried holding him in all sorts of positions, tried the binky, tried laying on his stomach, on his back, even tried a swing. Nothing worked. Then I didn't like to leave him laying there if he was crying and I needed to pump and eat something (because anyone that knows me knows if I am hungry I can be kranky ;) so I was a little frustrated. So Mark called and asked if I wanted him to come to the hospital. He worked until 10am but didn't have to work tonight. He came up and held Ethan for a while to help comfort him while I pumped. Eventually he passed him off to me so he could catch some z's (can't blame him!) At 7:00 another nurse came on and we changed his diaper. Uff da no wonder he was kranky! That diaper was F-U-L-L Full! Mark told me he felt him poop when he was holding him but didn't say anything! He hadn't pooed for awhile so that could have been part of his problem. Once we changed his diaper the nurse laid him in his crib on his belly and he was quiet! Sleeping! That little boy has got to be tired. He hadn't slept most of the day.

I am glad that seattle went so well, considering the circumstances. I can't imagine life with no Ethan. I hate to even think about it. I pray everyday that he keeps getting better, so that someday we can all worry about regular stuff like, when will he talk, oops he bumped his head, and someday girls! ewwwwww!!!!!!!
lol
Love you all !
