Big boy!

So Ethan got his first vaccinations today. He had to get 4 shots so they decided to tag team him. One nurse gave him 2 shots in one leg and another nurse gave him 2 shots in the other leg. (One of these shots was a medication but the other 3 were vaccinations.) I was all so scared for him. Holding his hand. Telling him it was ok. And what did he do... screamed for about 10 seconds if that! That's it! I am so proud of our little man... especially because I know if he cried longer I would have started crying too! He has also been sleeping really really well these last few days. He had a couple rough ones since Monday but he has been doing really good. We did think he was going to have to have an enema today but he proved us wrong. We just said the E word and the next cares he had a HUGE diaper for us. Guess no enema for this little guy!

He still has acid reflux and they told us that they will give him medication for it to see how that works. If that doesn't work maybe they will have to put his feeding tube past his belly. This is kind of like a step backwards though because he won't be able to eat out of the bottle until he can handle the food in his stomach. Of course the s word came up. Surgery. They would basically flip his stomach so that it would tighten the tube his food comes down. Of course this is last resort and there wont be surgery anytime soon but they just told us it is a possibility.

I also found out that the cystic fibrosis test came back. No they didn't tell me the results when they came in. I had to ask. Why it happened this way I am not sure. Good news is... it came back negative!

We also found out that the nurse that told us he could go home in 2 weeks was just crazy. They are thinking for like 4-6 weeks. He may have to go home on oxygen but that is ok with us. Having all of us in our home will be more than awesome!

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
