Tuesday... Leah is discharged

Today we got up to check on Ethan and the nurse said that he still had not went poop. Unfortunately this meant that they needed to do an enema. They were going to do it while we were there but I said that I would rather not as I may pass out. When we had went down for his 4:00 cares we changed his diaper and there was poop! Yeah! It was kind of funny though because Mark had lifted Ethans bum up and put a clean diaper under him with the old diaper still on. Then took off the old one and realized he had pooped. So then we looked at the nurse for direction because he hadn't pooped yet so we didn't know where the wipes were. So I wiped Ethan's little bum and realized that some poop had gotten on the new diaper. So he asked the nurse if he should get another diaper or if he should just use that one. I looked at him and said "did you want to put poopy boxers on?" Of course the nurses chuckled but then Mark said "how do you know I don't already have poopy boxers on?" So of course the nurses start laughing and say "TMI!" Mark was just wondering because he knows that babies will mess their diapers a lot and thought that maybe Ethan would just mess it right away so might as well use the one with a little poop on it. Oh yes we have a lot to learn ;)

They did take Ethan off the billie light because his billie reuben number was where they wanted it! Yeah so no more blue light which means no more cool sunglasses.

I got discharged from the hospital today but that meant that they needed to take out my staples before I left. So some how I let Mark remove my staples but only if I got to take a picture and of course the nurse would have to help him. So yep Dr. Mark Sloan at it again! He removed all of my staples and it didn't hurt at all. I liked letting him do it because I know that he weirdly enjoyed it. I do have pictures of it but I don't know if I should post them on my blog as I know a few people may be grossed out by it... so if you want to see them just email me ;) I never thought that Mark taking out staples from my stomach would be a part of my scrapbook.

  2. It must be a "guy" thing. Thomas took out quite a few of my 71 staples. He thought it was pretty cool. I thought it hurt! I'm glad I couldn't watch.

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
