This year was quite different for Thanksgiving as we did not spend it with our related family but our new "families." We spent Wednesday night with all of Mark's co-workers and their spouses and children. There was so much yummy food and we even played scattergories... I love board games! On Thursday Mark worked during the day so I baked and then we headed over to my friend Addie's house to join them for their family dinner. Another night of yummy food and good company. She has 2 girls one is 5 years old and the other is 2 years old. They are full of energy and are so much fun to be around. It was so fun to watch Mark with these 2 girls. The youngest one really liked Mark and kept wanting to sit on his lap and then the 2 girls would go jumping on their dad like a jungle gym. Mark had a tendency to laugh at things that were funny but not so much if you are the parent ;) Such as Eliana (the oldest) kept steeling the whipped cream can because she wanted to play with it and then got it all over her hair, or playing with finger paints when she wasn't supposed to, or peaking through a plant like she was a spy but almost tipping the plant over ;) It was a blast for us. Thank you Addie for inviting us to your home for the holiday.
This year I have to say I have become thankful for something I should have been thankful for the last 3 years but it takes not having it once to realize you should be thankful for it. What am I talking about? Being able to spend the holiday with my husband, my best friend. We were unable to spend last years Christmas, New Years, Valentines (Ok so I say its a hallmark holiday but it still stinks when you are home alone), my birthday AND Easter. So this year we may have not been able to spend our Thanksgiving with the our families with our traditional lefsa but we were able to spend it together and THAT I am thankful for.
