Big house or Small house....

So we have visitors coming this weekend which we are both really excited for. However, this means a deep cleaning... why oh why... I really don't know... oh wait I do know... because I grew up with a mother that was a complete clean freak! No offense mom ;) But cleaning is so not my thing! I have gotten A LOT better with cleaning since I was in college but I think part of me just hates cleaning because it rebels against my mom! haha ! I know I am adult now and I shouldn't be thinking... oh I am going to rebel against my mom... but I just cant help it! So we used to own a small house in Wisconsin and now we are living in a house with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, office, living room and dining room and of course a kitchen. What does this say to you? What this says to me is MORE CLEANING! More space to collect things and more space to accumulate piles! Now I have to say... I have been doing a lot better at keeping the house clean in AZ vs. WI but that has to be because we have no house projects here. I used to say I wanted a big house... now I say lets keep it to the minimum... I used to want a glass shower door... now I say no way! what a pain to clean! Huge garage... hmmm nah... that means more room for mens clutter that you cant think of touching or else! Have I mentioned we have 3 bathrooms... yes 3 FULL bathrooms! Now with just the 2 of us that means we only use one of the showers BUT all 3 TOILETS are used which mean all 3 toilets need to be CLEANED! Ugh! Dont get me wrong all this space is nice but I am thinking I want a studio house... ya know like a studio apartment but a house? Do those exist? Then when we have kids there will only be so much space that they can spread their toys out on... which means less space for me to clean!

Ok maybe not that small but definitely not wanting big... ooh but I do want a big studio.... hmmm.... maybe we can skip the kitchen and dining room... just a studio, 1 bedroom and 1 bath....hmmmm...

I would love to hear your point of view on cleaning and house sizes ;)

  2. it doesn't matter to me... it's always hard to keep clean! but we have 3 full baths too and it is a pain!!! as are glass shower doors... just squeegie it everytime, that helps. Oh and go for the house with a studio, not a studio house, especially with dogs and kids. You just need to have lots of doors to shut so you don't have to look at the mess :)

  3. Okay Leah, I know you are waiting for your Moms response on this. First of all I can't believe you are still trying to do things to rebel against me, you are almost 30 years old:) Second of all, I think smaller than what I have is for sure the way to go. I have 4 bathrooms to clean which all get used. Now that I am working only part time so I could have more time to clean this 5400 sq foot house, I find myself procrastinating on cleaning and would rather be outside watering my trees or sewing baby blankets. Don't get me wrong, I still think clean is good. I just am not as bad as I use to be.

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
