Another round of crazy!

Geez I thought I would be able to keep an update on the kitchen progress but that didn't happen.  The first morning Arlan (Mark's dad) was here the dogs found a porcupine.  So they spent an hour pulling out quills from Kiara's mouth and a few from Dakota's front leg.  Of course one got stuck in Dakota that they couldn't get out so off to the vet we went... of course on a Sunday so an emergency visit!  The next day I went to the Dr for a check up.  While I was talking to the nurse Ethan was playing with my phone.  Some how he managed to text a friend "IOU" which ended up causing some confusion on what the plan was for later that day!

A few days later Kiara found a rattle snake.  Another trip to the vet.

The cats needed their vaccinations so off to the vet again.  (We got outside cats to help with mice in the country but they ended up being shop cats for now)

Then I was in a friends wedding.  So we thought it would be best that I take a friend to the rehearsal and wedding to help with Ethan so Mark and his dad could get a lot done while we were gone.  I was so excited for this wedding but being 28 weeks pregnant and having braxton hicks contractions made it not as enjoyable as I had hoped.  Well right before the ceremony I started having constant contractions. We sat down for dinner and they wouldn't stop.  I was kind of freaking.  I didn't want to leave the wedding but I didn't want to be delivering a baby in the field an hour away from a doctor.  So my friend packed up Ethan for me and drove me to Great Falls.  They hooked me up to the machine to find out yes, I was contracting.  They were trying to find the heart beat and couldn't find it.  Now I was really freaking.  Good thing that lasted for just a minute.  They found the heartbeat going strong.  Then admitted me and gave me a series of shots to help with the contractions.  My girlfriend took Ethan home with her to put him to bed because it was 9pm and Mark was on his way to stay with me.  The next day the contractions were still going but not as crazy as they were when I first got there but they had me stay another night.  I ended up staying two nights but of course that took time away from the kitchen remodel.  Our life is never dull around here!

The kitchen remodel of course had a few bumps in the road.  The demo took a lot longer than hoped for.  They took out the bulk head above the kitchen and we were happy to find to additional work needed under there.  Then they took out the flooring and of course there was an issue there which caused more work.  So after the flooring was ready for tile they wired the kitchen.  It had one big ugly florescent light and now we have recessed lighting.  They also added a light about the door that goes to the garage and moved some switches around as well as adding a few outlets and moving the dining room light so it was center.  Lots of drywall done.  Then texture and prime the walls and ceiling.  Oh yes and put in a new window and 2 doors.  Then tiled the floor followed by grout.  Before Arlan left they set the kitchen up with the appliances.  I don't have a kitchen sink, cabinets or much counter space.  Mark has been working hard at getting the cabinets done.

When the replaced the window they thought they should pass Ethan through it!
And of course what Papa and daddy do Ethan must do so lets clean the grout!

 Like father like son

After Arlan left my mom came up for a few days to help me get some things done for the nursery.  The bedding is finished.   She offered to help me make the curtains before she came up.  Once she saw what I was doing she offered to just buy me some because it was going to be a lot of work.  Well I finished them and they were a pain in the you know what.  I don't think I will make curtains again.  She painted the kitchen so its ready for cabinets to be hung.  She also painted the dresser I picked up in Milwaukee in May for the babies room.  Ah yes, and she wanted to clean my fridge out.  I was excited because it really wouldn't take much but my body has been hurting theses days.  So I sat there and told her what to throw.  When she was done she asked for some windex to clean the shelves.  I looked at her in disgust.  I said well I have a bottle of vinegar in a spray bottle and some paper towels to use.  She looked at me like I was crazy!  My mom loves her cleaning supplies.  I hate them.  I worry about the chemicals and what they do to our health.  So of course Mark chimed in and started making fun of me with my mom about using vinegar ect.  Oh well... at least I don't have windex on my vegetables!

Nursery clothes hamper... I made the liner with left over fabric from the bedding and crocheted an edge on it...
Dresser painted by my mom and I lined them with wrapping paper (cheaper and a better selection than drawer liner especially since I didn't want scented paper)
Some burp clothes I threw together.  I had all this pink flannel stashed away so I cut them up and put them threw my serger (which I LOVE and so glad I got one... makes this goes much quicker and easier)

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
