Another Baby!

Well it's time to officially announce that we are having another baby! Many of you probably already know from facebook or from talking to us. The due date is September 5th but because of my situation the baby will be delivered via c-section at 39 weeks, so the last week in August our newest addition should be arriving (and not any sooner!) I went in for surgery to have a cerclage placed around my cervix last Friday. We were running a little late that morning so Mark dropped me off at the door while he parked. As I got in the elevator memories started flooding my mind of the NICU and... well, I lost it. I got to my destination floor and couldn't walk to the counter. I had to pull myself together. It was tough. I just remember being in that hospital day after day (minus the days we were in other hospitals and flying to and from them!) and all the emotions that I was going through at the time. We didn't know anything. We didn't know if he was going to make it. It was a total roller coaster. I just don't want to relive those moments again.

The surgery went well. It took a little longer for me to recover because they had to change the plan of action since I was sick with a nasty cough. I was out of there by 4:30 PM. My mom had come up on Thursday to help with Ethan through all of this. She was such a help! Thank you mom! So I ended up riding home with her as Mark took Ethan. Unfortunately on the way home I had to have her pull over twice. I couldn't keep anything down! Once we got home I just rested.

Saturday I was feeling a little better but still some pain. My mom had made a roast dinner, mashed potatoes, carrots, 7 layer salad and german chocolate cake. It was awesome. That night Mark had to get some sleep since he had to work so once Ethan was down for the night my mom and I headed to the theaters. We went to The Vow. And cried. Then since I still wasn't able to lift Ethan my mom got up with him that night... 3 times! The next night Mark took care of him... he didn't wake up at all! Both my mom and Mark helped out so much while I recovered. I couldn't have done it with out them. Unfortunately during this time we realized that Ethan is kind of a mama's boy. Now we got to work on breaking that!

Since it's been awhile since I posted some pictures here are some random ones...

I like the pictures. I had a good time while visiting and having that alone time with Ethan. He is such a sweet boy and doesn't want his Mama out of his sight. I don't remember the last time Leah and I went to the movies alone. It was fun. Can't wait to meet the new baby, but I will wait until the end of August little one.
    See you soon,
    Love and miss you guys,

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
