Ethan update...

(ugh this post has been sitting here waiting for me to push publish... so hopefully I'll get a more recent update on here soon)

Well we have a new project in the works and this project is leaving me absolutely exhausted! I can't get caught up on anything lately. Mark asked me the other night why I haven't blogged lately. All I could do was look at him and say "really?" More on that project later...

Ethan. Let's see. A few weeks ago he started getting super cranky! After a few days of it I thought hmm maybe he has an ear infection. Sure enough. First one at 21 months. I was kind of glad that there was a reason to his crankiness and lack of sleep... that meant it was only temporary and not his new phase! Oh and this came shortly after he was severely constipated! Poor kid. There were tears and all. A can of mandarin oranges did the trick though.

Then on Sunday (Jan 22nd) we had some friends over that we hadn't seen since Thanksgiving. They have a 3 year old son. All of a sudden Ethan started walking more while they were here. They commented on how well he was doing. Of course I had to point out that it was his first night of doing such things! The following days have been more and more of him walking. Which is awesome! Except now when I go to the post office to mail things off he doesn't stand by my leg. Instead he walks over to the mailing supplies and pulls all of the envelopes off the shelf!

Today I took Ethan's temperature and it was 101! I took him to the clinic and they took his temp. It was 102.6! His heart was racing. They checked his ears. Nothing. They decided to get some blood work done and a chest x-ray right away. The Dr. was worried that it was pneumonia! So off we went to the lab. Ooh Ethan didn't like that. Then off to the x-ray. That was super hard because they wouldn't let me in there so I had to stand outside the door listening to my baby crying as they took the x-rays. I have to admit... I was bawling too! So the Dr. had mentioned maybe keeping him over night. Well once all the tests came back they decided it was just viral. Whoo! It stinks that there isn't something to get rid of it but I am sure glad it wasn't pneumonia and we didn't have to spend the night! Mark came as soon as he could which was nice as I can always use him to calm me down!

We have a few other projects going on right now. Tonight if you stopped by you would find no doors on the bedrooms or bathrooms. The doors are being painted followed by new casing and trim. Once that is done Mark is starting our kitchen cabinets. Yes he is building them. He has done it before and he has been wanting some wood working tools. This way he can get his tools and we get new cabinets. Can't wait til the kitchen is complete as it is going to be one major project.

Here he is digging into a hot dish. He found a lot of joy in it!

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
