It's time

So I was told the other night by a blog reader, who happens to sleep in the same bed as I, that it is definitely time for a new blog post. Yes I know this. So then I asked him when might he think I have time for such a task. He didn't have the answer to that but he did know that it was time.

So let's see. Not a lot has been going on here. Just boring stuff.
We moved out of our old house on Halloween so Ethan didn't really get to celebrate the holiday but we still put him in a costume randomly throughout November because it was so darn cute.

It took forever to get the paper work done to buy the new house but luckily the guy we purchased it from was an old supervisor of Mark's so he let us move in and start remodeling 2 weeks before we ended up closing.

Ethan was a trooper through the whole process. He was pretty content while we packed and moved. He didn't have much room to crawl around in for awhile. Just his bedroom. The other rooms needed some serious work. Mark and a friend tore out all the drywall in the living room, dining room and hallway. Followed by mudding and texturing all while doing the ceilings in those rooms too. Which left a mess on the floor that needed to be tore up. Those floors are now complete with hickory flooring and new carpet in the living room. Interesting thing about this though is because I needed to keep an eye on E while I was making him his meals I decided to put him in his highchair in the kitchen and set the laptop up with a baby signing time video. Little did I know what would come of it. Ethan now signs a TON of words. It is soooo cute to watch him sign. He signs: book, more, all done, car, bus, cloud, play, please, thank you and more that is not coming to my mind right now.

Oh yes, I hear the wind out side as I am typing. Let's not forget. So we live in a windy area. We knew this before buying the house. It was winding where we lived before as well but we were in town so there were buildings to break the wind. Now we live on a hill. In the country. With no trees. So it's windy. Mostly in the winter though. The other week we had 90 mile an hour winds here. The shingles started to blow off the house above the garage. Great. Even better is the roof was less than 6 weeks old. It was quite a hassle but it got fixed and now just hoping that we don't have more issues with that!

We have doors and trim ordered so we hope to get that done by the end of January. I am really excited for trim because it seems like we go a very long time in our houses without trim. If anyone remembers our house in Wisconsin? Mark never saw the house with trim because he left for his job before we could get it finished!

We had some friends over the other night for dinner, drinks and.... GAMES! It has been forever since Mark and I got together with friends and played games. The last time was actually when I was pregnant with Ethan 2 years ago and I was the only sober one. Let's just say I got a little upset when no one was playing by the rules... oh pregnancy! LOL! It was an awesome time and we hope to do it again soon.

Kailie and I took Ethan out sledding in our driveway. He absolutely loved it!

Here is Ethan with a funny face next to a rocker that used to be grandpa Arlan's.
Hmmm maybe I shouldn't let Ethan watch me talk on the phone to Mark! lol!
Ethan has a few words. His latest is to try to say "drink your tea" (it's from Jake and the Neverland Pirates soundtrack) It's so funny to watch him say it.
Got these superman jammies for Ethan because Mark remembers having some when he was a kid. I am hoping maybe there is a picture of Mark in them. Ethan loves his car again. It has a siren and it was sounding dead for awhile because he pushed it all of the time but it started working again with no new batteries.
My sister refers to Ethan as the my perfect child. I think she is a little bitter that he sleeps through the night and doesn't wake up until 8 or 9 am. I think she jinxed me the other day because we were up with Ethan until 1am with him crying because he was constipated. Thankfully a few kiwis in the morning took care of that. I have to say though he is a pretty easy child. Hopefully his teens won't be a nightmare. But then again have you met his parents... most likely the teens are not going to be easy!

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
