What makes me smile...

Ethan has been doing a few things these days that just make me smile...

He smiles and starts crawling towards me when he sees I have a bottle...

When he smiles he just doesn't smile... every muscle in his face goes into it and it is so darn cute!

When he gets happy he does this loud screech... Mark calls him a little pterodactyl (yeah I had to look up how to spell that one!)

When we rock him and pat his back he will try to reach behind his back to grab our hand

He loves story time. He has his favorites. He watches me as I put a book back and waits to see what book I pull out next. If it's one he really likes he will squeal and kick his little feet.

He sits pretty good by himself now but at times he still focuses on his toy when he starts to fall over instead of letting go of the toy and catching himself. But the best part is is when he is starting to tip over he squeezes his eyes shut in preparation for the fall!

His teeth... or should I say tooth. He still only has 1! This one tooth is now 2 months old so it is a pretty decent size... all by itself!

He loves "boo!" Not peek-a-boo, not peek. Just boo. You say it to him and its almost guaranteed an instant smile.

One year ago on Good Friday Ethan was born. I am so happy this Good Friday was full of enjoying him and very laid back ;)

One year ago yesterday (the 21st) Ethan had his heart surgery done in Seattle. It's funny how certain dates are stuck in my head. I remember the whole morning before the surgery I don't think I could breathe. But once the surgeon came out saying that everything went well I felt a huge sense of relief.

And because posts are just better with pictures....

Here is Mark being a hero. There is a cat in the tree. It had been up there for a good part of the morning entertaining the dogs. Finally we decided it wasn't going to come down on it's own so Mark saved the kitty.
Ethan decided to take off his sock in the car the other day....
Mark asked me out on a date the other night for dinner. Of course we don't have a baby sitter around here really so Ethan went with. It was all good up until dessert. That's when Mark passed him to me when I found there was poo soaking through his pant leg. So I headed to the truck to clean up the mess while Mark got the dessert to go... Oh the joys of parenthood! Yet I wouldn't trade one moment!
Again these pictures are from my phone. Mark is always commenting how I have such a nice camera and I don't use it. I use my phone. No, Mark. I use both. I love that I am ok with using my phone camera for certain things. I don't like carrying my nice camera everywhere. I have noticed since I got my new phone I have been taking more pictures of those moments that you just don't have your camera with. I am just happy to capture the moments!

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
