A few thoughts....

Sometimes Ethan sleeps longer than 12 hours or he naps for longer than an hour and I start to worry. I go in to check on him a million times and I don't leave until I see that he is breathing. And then I wonder "Is this normal? Do parents of full term babies worry that their baby has stopped breathing?" Maybe.

The other day we gave Ethan some banana that I pureed in the ninja. The ninja is an awesome processor and I recommend it if anyone is looking for one. Well that banana caused a real turd in Ethan's diaper the next day! It was so funny. I changed his diaper and laughed and thought oh I should save this to show Mark (he was outside.) He was taking longer than I thought so I was about to throw it out thinking oh he probably doesn't want to see it. Then he walked in. I said "Ethan had a real turd today." He said "what? Let me see. Where is it?" Yep, that's us. Excited about turds!

The other morning Mark came home from work and he went to check on Ethan. I was still in bed with the monitor turned on. Then all of a sudden I heard on the monitor a loud fart followed by a heheheheheee and Mark running to our bedroom. He burried his head into a pillow because he was laughing so hard. He finally caught his breath and looked at me and said "That was Ethan by the way." Hmmm I don't know if I should believe that ;)

It's funny to watch Ethan with the dogs. Now he watches them as they walk by to see what they are doing. Or he will pull at their wiskers or grab their tongue when they lick his little hand. Of course we watch him when he is with them but the dogs are doing really good with him. Ethan was even pulling Dakota's hair and he just turned to look at him and started to lick him. Kiara has showed more interest in him lately too.

Ethan's latest accomplishment....... drum roll please.... up on all fours! I was on the couch talking to my mom watching Ethan play on the floor (as we are working on lots of tummy time as it was suggested by his physical therapist) and he is looking at me with all smiles and a little giggle and I couldn't figure out what he thought was so funny. Then I looked closer and he was on all fours! He was rocking a little then he would let his arms out in front of him and rock on his belly! It was so cute. Crawling doesn't seem like it's so far off anymore. I can't believe how fast they grow up! I think it's time to start child proofing the house. No picture of that yet but here is a picture of him sitting up... he can sit by himself for a few seconds now, sometimes longer just depends on if he has a toy to keep his interest ;)

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
