Celebrations....

So Wednesday (September 1) was our 3 year anniversary. Thanks to all the emails and texts to wish us a happy one. It is amazing that it has been 3 years! Since Mark's schedule is all goofy we ended up deciding that I would just make dinner and we would head out of town towards Whitefish on his next day off for dinner. Mark decided to get a guitar for his present (also his birthday present.) It was a good deal and he thought "well I never had the time to learn and now I do." When I told this to his sister her response was "well most people that have a newborn at the house think that it's a great time to learn a new instrument!" Yeah, I know. It was quite cute though when I walked into the living room he had Ethan on his play mat and he was learning some lullabyes.

And Thursday.... well Thursday we celebrated Ethan is 5 months! 5 months! Where has the time gone. Oh yeah, it was in the NICU and traveling Washington and Montana. I just can't believe he is getting so big! Thursday we had the nurse come to weigh him and he was 9 pounds 3 oz! Uff da! He did roll over again the other day but of course I didn't see it... all. I did see the last 1/2 second when he was landing on his back. He is quite determined though when we have him on his belly. I have a feeling it will be very soon that he is rolling over all the time. What's really funny is when he is hungry he starts to lick my neck! Ethan was given a nice wagon to ride in but it has been cold here lately. We are hoping to get him out in it in the next few days as it is supposed to warm up.

Yesterday I put Ethan on his back and all of a sudden he was full of smiles. Smiles! It melted my heart! So of course I pulled out the camera to catch some of it. He also started to follow me with his eyes. You don't know what this means to me. My heart has been aching because he hasn't been smiling much lately. He had smiles in the hospital but it was more like sleeping smiles. The eye doctor said that he wouldn't start focusing on things and following them until October and that if he didn't that I needed to call him so he could check on him. So this means a ton to me. It was so much fun! Then I had to run to the store so Mark played with him while I was gone. When I got back he said that Ethan was quite "talkative" when I was gone. Of course... why not when I am gone!

Here is my opinion on diapers for those that may have thought "I wonder what kind of diapers Ethan uses?" LOL! No but really. We used pampers in the NICU. So of course that is what we bought for when we came home but we had a few boxes of huggies from people for presents. For whatever reason I had it in my head that pampers was better. Well we decided we liked the huggies better. No real reason we just did. Well then we ran out and we needed to pick some up in town. Well they didn't have huggies in his size so mark picked up some pampers. I can't tell you how many outfits I have been scrubbing poo out of because they have leaked out the sides! Ugh so annoying. So for those wondering... we use huggies little snugglers ;) I would love to hear other thoughts on diapers!

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
