Interesting day...

Yesterday was quite an interesting day. It started out with nursing Ethan. He choked. Nothing new. He does this... not as often as he used to but he still does it. So I sat him up and patted his back... this usually does the trick. Well then the heart monitor went off because his heart rate was dropping! So Mark ran over and took Ethan from me, flipped him so his belly was on Mark's hand and hit his back a few times, flipped him over, yep still not breathing so he flipped him back over and hit him a few more times and one last time... flipped him over and he was breathing. Yep, nothing like testing out your CPR skills!

Then I was feeding Ethan from a bottle (don't worry... it's still my breast milk) and he was eating away. Then all of a sudden he looked at me and aackkk! He spit up all over me and all over him. Ethan does not spit up at all. This is the second time that he has spit up and well, both times they were HUGE spit ups! So I went to change his clothes and mine. Of course now that his belly was empty he wanted to eat some more!

Then I went to change his diaper and he was all over the place. He was crying and fussing. And he decided to pee... all over! Ok, well he didn't get the walls or me or anything but he got it all over his clothes, the changing table and barely his new diaper!

Oh I wish the excitement stopped there. Mark is now on the 2pm shift. So I went to bed at 10:30 before he got home. Ethan woke up at 12:30 and I found Mark still awake so I asked him to take care of him so I could still get some sleep. So of course he did. Well then I woke up with him at 4. All was good. Then at 5:30 Mark came to my side of the bed and was standing by Ethan and he kicked me. I woke up a little upset because that was kind of rude. He said "what needs to be done?" I said "what are you talking about?" He said "well does he need to be changed or fed or what?" I looked at him all confused and said "why, is he crying?" He said "well, no." I said "well he should be fine then." He got all frustrated and said "well if you want my help you better take advantage of it now since I am awake." So by this time I realized he was sleeping and didn't know what he was talking about so I just told him to turn on Ethan's giraffe that makes noise. So he did and then Mark went right to sleep. Only for Ethan to wake up and start crying! I couldn't get him to go back to sleep so I was up with him... thanks to Mark. Mark remembers none of this! This sleeping thing for him is kind of scary to me. Recently there was a bear attack by Cook City, MT (yes, right around where we got married) and a bear took 3 people out of there tents! 1 died but 2 lived to tell their stories. Well as I am told, one lady said that she was sleeping in a seperate tent than her husband because her husband snores so loud. Well, he snores so loud that he slept through his wife screaming as she was being attacked by the bear! It kind of makes me wonder what Mark would do. Now don't get me wrong I have no doubt in my mind that Mark would do everything in his power to save Ethan and I from a bear attack... if he is awake. Now what would happen if he was asleep? Say he went to bed upset with me for some reason. Would he throw me to the bears? LOL... you laugh but I am kind so serious!

Today we took Ethan on his first walk. We haven't bought a stroller yet so I walked with him in the moby wrap that was sent to us as a gift. Ethan loved it and so did I. It was nice to have him close to me especially since there tends to be lose animals around here so I just felt like he was safer.

Here are some pictures from the past few weeks...
This is the nurse walking us out of the hospital...

I love the pics of Ethan with his puppies!!!

Ahhh Mommy stories!!! Can't wait to hear more.... Although I kind of agree with you about Mark's Sleep walking being scary! Now I don't think you have to worry about him feeding you to bears... but Still kind of scary. Words of wisdom... just don't go camping in bear country soon.

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
