So then we headed over to the hospital. They put Ethan on the nasal canula for 3 hours this morning and it went really well. They will probably do it twice tomorrow. They also did another eye test yesterday and we had to wait for the results of that until today. Honestly, I was a little nervous. If the eye surgery is needed we will have to be flown to Billings to have it done. Well I just found out today that we have good insurance and all but they did not cover our flights back from Seattle... both times! They will fly us to a better hospital but they will not fly us back even though the cost of care in G.F. is about 7 times less per day than Seattle. G.F. hospital just ate the 17k flight back for us since we will be there long enough that they will get more money from our insurance. So... if he has to go to Billings for eye surgerey I am worried they won't fly us back to G.F. and that we will have to stay there until he is ready to go home. BUT his eye test was fine today. Fine meaning hasn't gotten worse since last week in Seattle. Now the Dr.'s in Seattle said that most likely he won't need eye surgery but has a higher risk for needing glasses. G.F. says since his first eye exam 3 weeks ago there was nothing and then last week there was stage 2 they think he will most likely need to have the surgery. Time will tell I guess.
So tonight was bath night again. I gave him a bath and then offered my mom to hold him for just a little bit. While she was holding him he was making noises. I asked the nurse what it was and she said oh nothing he is fine. Well then he spit up a little. Then a lot (ok a lot for me... it really wasn't that much) so I asked her to take a look at him. She told me it must be because we moved him around so much with the bath and then since he is on continuous feedings. So then my mom was getting a little scared holding him so I took him since I didn't feel comfortable laying him in his bed and leaving him when there was an issue like this. So then his heart rate started to drop so my mom grabbed another nurse in the hallway. She took him from me and noticed it was his feeding tube. It was pulled out a little bit. Well I know that if this happens for a while it can hurt their lungs because the milk is not hitting his belly its higher up. I asked her if it had hurt anything and she said most likely not since it wasn't going on for long. Ugh is all I can say.
OMG Bad hair cuts are awful!!!!! Be happy that you got to almost 30 before you had to deal with that mess!!!! i got the most awful hair cut in WA one time when I went to go visit Matt,,,, I bawled!!!! I hope you got it fixed and that is looks fine now!
ReplyDeleteGood news about the eye tests... well I guess good news that is hasn't happened yet. Hopefully he won't have to have it but if he does I hope it simple.
Ugh is right about the feeding tube... I bet you just want to go home! I want you to go home too!
Insurance companies are sooo dumb! What they cover and what they don't! I am sorry it should either be you are covered or you are not! Simple as that! I am glad that G.F. ate one of the flights for you. And hopefully you don't have many more flights ahead of you.
