1st bath!

This morning I walked into Ethan's room to find that they were putting him back on the sipap. Yeah! This is a really good thing but every time they do it I worry. When he is on the sipap is when he tends to drop his heart rate which causes a heart attack for me. The nurse decided he should get his hair washed before they put the sipap back on. This is his first bath... well half bath I guess since they only got to wash his hair ;)
His hair is sooo darn cute! I got to snap these pics without any mask on his face or a tube!

They decided that the reason he might have had a spell the other night could be because he might have pneumonia. He has had a lot of secretions in his mouth and nose and they are thinking this might be why. They started him on antibiotics just in case as the culture takes 2 days to find out if he has it or not.

As I was changing his diaper before I left for the night I saw his little parts were a little swollen. I asked the nurse and she told me that it could be a hernia and that she would watch it. Personally my thoughts were "what? so you are going to watch it? So are you just going to watch his little parts explode!" I guess it is normal in preemies though and all you can do is watch it. Sometimes it will go away or worse case scenario he would have to have surgery on it later on down the road. I really hope my poor little man doesn't have to have another surgery!

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
