Tuesday... a dip in the road

Today started off with both Mark and I driving to Great Falls so that I would be able to have a vehicle there. No more taxi drivers! Well of course why would it not be snowing in the middle of April... and a major snow storm! There were power outages already by noon. Mark dropped the dogs off at the kennel and Dakota did his normal thing... all excited and as soon as the door opened he jumped into the big bag of dog food and started chowing down... kind of funny but this is the dog food that gives him REALLY bad gas! And then there was Kiara clinging to Mark's leg and not wanting to be left. She has been like this since the day we got her but we just feel so bad lately because we are having to use the kennel more than we ever would like to.

So I went to the hospital while Mark was at the kennel. The nurse started to tell me how Ethan was doing. It was not good. One bad thing after another. He was anemic so they needed to give him blood... kind of makes sense because they keep taking blood from him to check things. Then they found that he had an infection and also a yeast infection. So they started him on antibiotics right away for that. They turned off the humidity in his bed because his skin is doing fine and yeast grows in moist areas so they wanted to eliminate that. I have to say that having him intubated is SOOOO extremely hard! He can't cry or make any noises. It is so sad. I never thought I would say that all I want is to hear my baby cry but I do!

After all the emotions flowing we decided to go out for dinner at a local restaurant we hadn't tried yet. It was really nice... the looks and the service anyway... the food, well not so much. I did have a glass of wine though that helped me take a nap when we got home ;) (Don't worry, I check with the dr about EVERYTHING I do these days!... so no judging please... let me have a glass of wine in peace.. jk ;)

Mark told me that once he comes home he doesn't want me to corrupt our little boy. I looked at him a little puzzled. He said that he didn't want to come home and ask Ethan if he wanted to go fishing and he respond with "no, mom and I are going to have a tea party today and then we are going to bake." I was thinking maybe I could teach him to crochet instead, I've never been a big fan of tea parties anyway ;)

  1. LOL I love the humor you guys have as parents!!!! It's so funny. Mark is such a Dad and you are such a Mom. WHich is AWESOME!
Well Sounds like Ethan had a bad night and maybe a rough day, but this dip in the road is probably way harder on you than it is on him.
Keep your chin up! So many people are praying for all you guys, and if we all could be there to help and give you a hug when you have a bad day we would.

    We all love you guys

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
