Monday... home again!

So this morning we woke up to get Mark ready, packed and off to the airport. We called the hospital to check up on Ethan and they said he did really good through the night again. They didn't know anything about when Ethan and I would be flying out yet. So once Mark took off I thought I should try to go back to sleep because it was going to be a long day. I decided I should call the hospital again to check on the flight. They still didn't know at 7:45am and the nurse said she would call me as soon as she knew anything. Yep, 8am she called to tell me we were flying out at 10am! Ahhh that meant I needed to get moving! So I hurried to take a shower and pack up and headed to the hospital. 10:00 came and went. The flight team was running behind and got there about 11.

The flight was fine up until the very end. During the whole flight I was really cold and had my jacket on with another jacket on my lap. As we were coming into MT the turbulence got really bad. All of a sudden I was unzipping my jacket and resting my head on the window where it was cold. I thought for sure I was going to lose my cookies! And Ethan... oh he was doing just fine! Yep, he is his fathers son! We landed fine though and headed off to the hospital. It was nice to see familiar faces again! Mark was at the hospital waiting for us as he flew in an hour earlier than us.

They got Ethan all set up in his new room. Mark picked up the dogs and then picked me up from the hospital to head home for a night. It was nice to be home but I still can't wait to find out what our new "normal" is. You know, where it's just a regular day again only we will have Ethan home with us. I hope that day is coming soon!

  1. Mark, Leah and Ethan. Glad to hear you're back in MT and Ethan is doing so well. Those long hospital days are stressful, so I'm hoping you get to return home soon as well. Keep posting on the progress-it's been so nice to get the frequent updates. Wedding plans are moving along. It's going to be a busy summer. Take Care!

  3. I so would've been in your place with the plane.... there have been many times that I'm about to lose it during turbulence! Hopefully you won't have to fly again too soon.

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
