Friday... rocking time!

Last night was our first night at the free housing offered to us. The bedroom has 2 twin beds but the sofa does have a pull out bed. I don't like to think of sleeping apart from Mark (although it will be happening a lot soon as he will be back to work) so we chose the sofa bed. Yep... not the most comfortable but I am guessing/hoping it won't be as bad when my body doesn't feel like I was stuck in a dryer for days! We are ever so thankful for this housing that there could be just the floor to sleep on and that would be just fine with us. Of course when it's just me staying at the house I will be opting for the twin bed though.

Today we went out shopping for a rocker. We have looked a few times but until last Friday I really didn't know what I wanted. I was looking for something that was comfortable but at a good price. I found one by simmons for $200 and thought that was a good deal. Mark didn't want to buy it though because we were told that basically it was a piece of junk. So we decided now that I have spent some time in a few rockers at the hospital and well since Ethan decided to come a little early that maybe we should fine one. We found one in leather that we really liked but we didn't want leather and thought that we would just order it a different fabric... but it was going to take 8 weeks! So we decided to keep looking. As we were driving we decided that leather would actually be kind of nice since it would be easy to clean and my theory was I didn't want to stick to it in the summer but since MT has a lot less humidity and we will have the nursery at a nice temperature during the summer we decided to go with leather after all. So we went to Ashley and found 2 that we really liked but only 1 was in stock. Yes! At least we found something that we like that is in stock! But we decided to walk next door to check out another furniture store and found another one that we liked... and they only had one in stock and it was the floor model. Ok so now which one do we want.... we had to decide right away since there was only one at each store. Well we went back to Ashley and since the other stores chair was $75 less the Ashley salesman decided to drop his price $100... ok we will take it! So we have a nice burgundy leather rocker being delivered in just 10 days and I can't wait!

Ethan got his first dose of mama's milk today. I have been pumping since his birth and the hospital has been freezing all of it. Today Mark got to feed him a small amount of 2cc's from a syringe into his tube that goes to his stomach. He seemed to like it but we have to see how he reacts to it before they give him more.

This is Mark being the wonderful husband that he is.... working on bagging the milk and doing a great job at... I love you hunny!

We went back to our house to spend the night but after his 8:30 cares we decided to call the nurse to see how he was doing. She told me that they did weigh him and he gained a few ounces... he is now at 2lbs 8 oz. Woo hoo! Definitely a step in the right direction. I also asked the nurse if it was ok to have a glass of wine. She told me that a small glass of wine was ok as well as the 2 lactose consultants I also asked. So I poured a glass of wine, took 2 sips and fell asleep! Drinking wine was something that I was missing when I was pregnant but now that I am not... it's just different. Maybe its the lack of sleep, the stress or the million things going round and round in my head. I don't know... the things that are important to me are definitely different. I have also seemed to calm down a lot! Mark is a little shocked about this but it has happened! Less wine=calm?!?!?! hmmmm.....

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
