Friday... continued

Friday was the day Ethan was born. Leah's mom and Rudy were already on their way to see us as they had planned on coming to visit us for Easter. They got to the hospital that afternoon to visit with us and see Ethan. Ethan was very swollen and bruised from the delivery. Mark had told the Dr. thank you for doing such a great job and that he had done it very quickly. The Dr. said thank you but unfortunately the surgery was longer than normal. He said that the delivery was a little complicated as Ethan was turned sideways. He had to cut my stomach horizontally but then had to cut my uterus vertically. Unfortunately this means that any future births for me will be done by a c-section. I am totally ok with that though if it means that our baby will be safe.

Ethan was put on a ventilator to help him breath right away and many other cords were connected to him. He had a line going through his belly button to give him medication to help his heart close since it had not done so while he was in my belly yet. He was also put under the billie light because his billie rueben number was not where they wanted it. With this light came the cool little sunglasses.

We received many flowers from our friends and family. They were beautiful. All the nurses that came in said it smelt like a floral store. These are just a few pictures of the beautiful flowers.

Shortly after Ethan was born Mark was allowed to go and see him. Leah was still recovering so she stayed in her room. Mark went and took pictures of our little guy and of course got one on the phone so that we could send a few text messages out. It was a nice way for Leah to see him too. Later that day Leah did get to go in Ethan's room to see him. Mark wheeled here in a wheelchair and they lowered Ethan's bed down for her so she didn't have to get up since moving around was still hard for her. She ended up getting really dizzy though and almost fainted. Luckily Mark knows that Leah faints easily and wheeled her out of his room quickly and got her a cold towel and glass of water. She was fine... Ethan's room is kept at a very warm temperature and that is what most likely got to her.

About Me

This blog started as a hobby for many reasons. It later became a way to keep the family up to date on our micro preemie baby, Ethan. Now as Ethan is nearing the 8 year mark with a little sister of 5 years I am finding a new reason to document on this blog.

Last year we were told by the school that Ethan had cerebral palsy, a blindspot and dyslexia. That is what started it all. I started taking him to doctors to find out what was going on and why this hasn't been discovered before now. In April 2017 we were told that he has executive functioning disorder. What the heck is EFD I thought?!?! After the doctor explaining it to us he basically said that if we don't start making changes now he could fall into the ADHD or possibly the autism category. Ok... so now what? What can we do?!? Well this blog is my way of documenting it all not only for me but also to help others find their way thru similar situations.
